Strategic Security Alliance

Introduction
Much of the innovation in the world comes from small firms, often very small companies. These small companies invent, develop, and market products, services, or solutions into markets that are fearful of small companies for a variety of reasons, many valid. These same small firms struggle to gain visibility for their offerings. This process is expensive and all too often beyond their financial capabilities.
Unfortunately, this is especially true in the area of security, where small firms have been unusually inventive and are offering many solutions that could add significantly to the security of our country and the world. In addition, many of the sales opportunities in the security field are in government, Federal, State and Local, where small companies are at a decided disadvantage.
Mission
The mission of the Strategic Security Alliance is to increase the visibility of its member firms to the public, potential business partners, and governments, so that the combined skills, products, and knowledge of its members can make significant contributions to global security. In addition, the members are pledged to cooperate on all business opportunities that each encounters, and to collaborate with other members wherever possible to provide complete solutions to the marketplace. Finally, the Alliance will develop marketing materials and will act as sales representatives on behalf of its members in specific markets.
Members
Membership in the Alliance includes companies with the following characteristics:
Small firms with significant security offerings in expertise, systems, products and solutions.
Individuals serving as Subject Matter Experts or consultants with emphasis on security.
Corporate Sponsors
Larger corporations and firms act as sponsors for the Alliance and are pledged to contact the Alliance when its members might assist in developing business opportunities.
Promotion
The SSA will provide press releases and announcements to promote its members whenever the opportunity presents itself. For example, we might be able to find a journalist willing to take on an article such as: “Small company innovations that may increase security often fall victim to larger companies and government” with the Alliance members used as examples.
Cooperation and Collaboration
Each member of the Alliance is pledged to cooperate with all other members. Each member also holds the right of first refusal for collaboration in developing any potential revenue. In other words, Alliance members should use other members as teammates wherever possible in order to enhance opportunities as they arise.
Financial arrangements are made between member companies on a case by case basis. When the Strategic Security Alliance is the primary marketing approach to any customer, each member agrees to work exclusively with other members of the Alliance. In the case a member company initiates the marketing to a specific account, that company will offer right of first refusal to other member companies. All member companies agree that they will use the services or products of other member companies on an exclusive basis whenever possible unless the member company exercises the right of first refusal.
Management of Sensitive Information
Members or associated third party firms may provide Unrestricted and Restricted information to the Alliance. All information marked or labeled Restricted or Confidential is considered restricted and cannot be divulged to any party outside of the Alliance. Unrestricted information may be freely shared by members with any party. Restricted information may be shared between members, but only shared with parties outside of the Alliance by the originator of the information.
New Members
Any firm may apply for membership. However, if a firm is determined to be in competition with an existing member company, that member will have the right to veto the application for membership.
Strategic Security Alliance Marketing and Sales
The Alliance will develop focused marketing and sales programs directed at specific markets. The initial market will be port security worldwide. Other potential markets include Anti-Piracy and Infrastructure. Each member company will have the option to participate in the Alliance marketing effort. Participation may include fees and expenses paid by each member company to the Alliance marketing and sales program. |
